Korean food is beautiful and delicious, and there is no other food in the world as healthy. Korean food has a lot of nutritional properties. The diet is comprised of cooked rice mixed with grains, vegetables, soup, kimchi, Fermented bean products, fish, meat, and side dishes(반찬; banchan). Fermented Foods(kimchi, gochujang, ganjang, doenjang) have many health benefits and act like a probiotic—they’re full of good bacteria. This type of diet is considered superior in preventing arteriosclerosis resulting from obesity, high blood pressure, and cancer.
The combination is balanced and harmonious in terms of taste and nutrition.
Before your main Korean dish comes out, you’ll automatically receive tiny bowls of sides delivered to your table. This is banchan. Banchan isn’t meant to be an appetizer, though most people graze a little before the rest of the food is delivered to the table. Try to save at least some of it to eat when the rice hits the table. You can ask for more.banchan. Most people unfamiliar with Korean food assume much of it is spicy, but a lot of banchan is pretty mild.
How to eat Korean Food
The use of the spoon for eating rice and soups is expected. And the use of the chopsticks for taking meats, vegetables or side dishes. If you don’t use metal chopsticks, feel free to ask for a fork or wooden chopsticks. Scissors are commonly used at home and at restaurants to cut up food into more manageable pieces. We have extra scissors, spoons on the table. Or feel free to ask your server for silverwares.
Vegetarian or Vegan options?
Much of Korean food is vegetarian-friendly. In a lot of cases, it’s vegan-friendly.
But some of banchan contains seafood. In some cases, the addition of seafood isn’t nearly as obvious. Often it’ll be through ingredients such as fish sauce, shrimp paste, or soup base made from meats or dried fish. Please make sure with your server. Server will make sure with kitchen staff.

Gluten Free Items?
A fair amount of Korean food is friendly to those who abide by gluten-free diets. Wheat flour isn’t a hugely important ingredient in most Korean dishes
But 3 main seasonings(gochujang, ganjang, doenjang) those have a small amount of gluten in them.
Korean dishes with those seasonings are not recommended if you have allergy to gluten.
Gluten Free Items: Kimchi Soup, Gyeran-jjim, Edamame, unmarinated BBQ meat, Sushi without sauce.
